This incident is part of a disturbing trend of violence against transgender people in Philadelphia. PhillyVoice reported that in October another transgender woman,Keisha Jenkins, 22, was killed in North Philadelphia after she was beaten and shot. Police determined that her death, however, was not a hate crime.
