Two arrested in connection to brutal Fairmount Park stabbing

One week after a woman’s body was found handcuffed, stabbed and shot in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia police have filed charges against two women they believe were responsible.

Shavon Armstrong, 39, of Wilkes Barre, turned herself into police over the weekend, and as ofTuesday faces murder, criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, robbery and other related offenses.

Shintele Smith, 28, of South Bialy Street was arrested Tuesday and faces murder, criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, robbery, unlawful restraint and other charges.

On June 14, Toy Charda Bryant’s body was found face down near the Mann Center. She had been stabbed repeatedly, shot once in the back of the head and handcuffed, police said. Bryant, of Chester, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cops said they believe Armstrong, aka “Palliadium Smith,” of Wilkes Barre, was an accomplice to the murder, allegedly carried out by Smith.

“She was in the vehicle,” Philadelphia Police Capt. James Clark said. “She helped drive the decedent to the park. We know that she helped plan and orchestrate it.”

Clark told CBS3 that the motive behind the slaying was an $800 debt.
