Two Phillies Shine, Named Players of the Month

The Phillies continue their amazing 2024 season with a 6-4 win over the Chicago Cubs last night to push them a season-high 27 over .500. They wake up this morning with more good news as Bryce Harper wins NL Player of month for June and Cristopher Sanchez wins NL pitcher for the month of June.

Both have been stars and their performances have kept this team afloat during a tough month of June, where the Phillies managed to keep the Atlanta Braves at bay in the NL East, as well as keeping a lead for the entire NL with the Los Angeles Dodgers looming.

Bryce Harper has now won back-to-back player of the month awards for the NL this season and firmly cementing himself in the middle of the MVP race. Harper hit .374 with a 1.166 OPS, while tallying 7 homeruns, 16 RBIs, and 17 extra base hits (lead the NL for the month).

He continues to be engine and energy that helps the Phillies perform like World Series favorites on most nights. Harper looks to be in contention for his first MVP since winning it in 2021 with the Phillies and will have to fight of the Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani for the inside track of the award for the rest of the season
