Tyrese Maxey is heating up just in time to become a playoff X-Factor

Tyrese Maxey has been a whole new player since being inserted back into the starting lineup. Coming into the season Maxey was seen as one of the best young players in the league. He was even viewed as having a potential All-Star-level season. While Maxey didn’t quite make that kind of a jump, he was one of the best players on the 76ers this year, and is hitting a hot streak right at the end of the season, making him one of the biggest X-Factors for the playoffs.

Tyrese Maxey is getting hot at the perfect time

This season, Tyrese Maxey has averaged 20.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game on 47.2/41.9/84.2 shooting splits. Despite how solid these numbers are (shoutout the career high in points), they increase even more as a starter to 22.3 points and 4.0 assists on 48.2/43.9/85.2 shooting splits in 34 games. After spending some time on the bench in favor of De’Anthony Melton, Maxey was reinserted into the starting lineup against the Miami Heat and had an excellent game. Since then, he has been scoring _ points per game. With Maxey as the starting shooting guard, the Sixers will continue to look toward the playoffs.

This is the perfect time for Tyrese Maxey to get hot. The team has been winning a lot of games lately, 9 of their last 10. Joel Embiid is finally getting the national media respect that he deserves while putting up absurd numbers and becoming the favorite for MVP. James Harden, despite a 2/14 game against Chicago, has become everything that the 76ers could have ever asked for. The Sixers bench continues to find ways to be positive for the team while growing. This team has continued to prove that they can and will come back from games when down big, evidenced by their league-leading 12 comeback wins of 13+ points. This team seems ready to make some serious noise in the playoffs.
