United States Women’s Olympic Soccer Roster Announced

With the 2024 Summer Olympics beginning shortly, it is a good time to catch up on who will be representing the United States of America in soccer. There will be a team in both the Men’s and Women’s sides of the sport at these Olympic games, this article is about the roster that will be playing for the women’s team. The men’s team article has been released and you can read that by clicking the link below.

The United States will be participating in Group B in the Olympics alongside Germany, Zambia, and Australia. The top two teams in the group will automatically advance to the knockout stage of the tournament, while the top two ranked third-place teams will also advance.

The United States is looking for their first gold medal in the tournament since 2012 in London. In 2016, they fell in the quarterfinals to Sweden, and in 2021 they lost in the semifinals to Canada. During this Olympic Games, Emma Hayes will be having her first competitive matches as the United States Women’s manager, starting a new era for the squad.

No Alex Morgan at these Olympic Games

After looking at the squad, the biggest realization was that Alex Morgan was not a part of the group that Emma Hayes selected. Morgan is one of the best-ever United States Women’s players, scoring 123 goals in the 224 caps she has with the team. She has been a crucial part of the USWNT success throughout her time with the squad, but it seems that new manager Emma Hayes wants to move in a different direction.

After not being selected, Morgan said the following on social media:

“Today, I’m disappointed about not having the opportunity to represent our country on the Olympic Stage. This will always be a tournament that is close to my heart and I take immense pride any time I put on the crest. In less than a month, I look forward to supporting this team and cheering them on alongside the rest of our country. LFG”

It seems that Morgan is taking the news well, and is with her fellow fans cheering on the United States women, as they look to claim the gold medal for the first time since 2012!
