A sophomore at Upper Darby High School is charged with bringing 81 bags of heroin to school earlier this week.

Police also confiscated more than $700 from the 16-year-old student when he was arrested a few blocks from the school on Tuesday, the Delaware County Daily Times reports.

An Upper Darby bike patrol officer approached the student as he sat on a bench, smoking a cigarette, along Lansdowne Avenue. The student dropped a backpack, reportedly revealing a large amount of cash and what appeared to be drugs, and ran from the area.

The student was eventually apprehended on the 500 block of Argyle Road. He is facing charges of possession of heroin with intent to distribute and resisting arrest.

The student sustained a broken ankle hopping a fence during the chase, and the injury will require surgery.
