Vick returns to first nest

Michael Vick gave his blood, sweat and tears to the city of Atlanta for six seasons. Then, after serving an 18-month sentence in a federal penitentiary for dogfighting, the team casually cut ties with him.

Regrets? Sure, Vick has a few. But, he isn’t holding any grudges against the Falcons, who drafted Matt Ryan and returned to the playoffs last season.

“Nobody actually knew when I was going to get out of prison,” Vick said. “This is business and you have to move on. They did a great job in drafting Matty Ice and he’s come in and been big for that organization.”

Vick compiled a 38-28-1 record as Atlanta’s starting quarterback and won two playoff games. Obviously, he still has a lot of support in the city and Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb said he expects Vick to receive a “standing ovation” Sunday at the Georgia Dome.

Vick, who expects to have 15-20 friends and family in attendance, isn’t sure what to expect.

“The last thing I want to get caught up in is the crowd’s [reaction],” Vick said. “Trust me, if there’s a warm reception, it’s going to be highly appreciated.”
