After a Week 9 win over the Colts, Michael Vick told coach Andy Reid that he thought the Eagles could win the Super Bowl. Now, even after finishing No. 2 in Pro Bowl voting, the quarterback is still focused on that one goal.
“It’s pretty cool, but that’s not the primary focus, that’s not the primary goal, to go to the Pro Bowl,” Vick said Wednesday. “It’s to get to the Super Bowl.”
Vick fell just 354,642 fan votes behind Tom Brady in Pro Bowl voting. He’ll most likely start in the Jan. 30 game in Hawaii. Full rosters will be revealed on Dec. 28.
That’s not important right now. Vick’s sights are set on the Vikings and the playoffs. If the Eagles win Sunday night, they win the NFC East for the first time since 2006. Or they can secure the division crown before kick-off, following a Giants loss.
While Vick admitted that he might enjoy it for a minute, there’s plenty more work to do.
“It will definitely put a stamp on this season,” Vick said. “We just have to continue to move forward. It’s just one stepping stone and plenty more hurdles to cross.”
And as amazing as last week’s comeback win at the new Meadowlands was, it’s the furthest thing from his — or any other Eagles’ — mind.
“You can enjoy a win in this league for two days. That’s Monday and Tuesday,” Vick said. “Everybody is back down to earth [come Wednesday].”
