It was a homecoming of sorts for Michael Vick yesterday as Atlanta welcomed back its former quarterback.
“[Atlanta] is still his home, always will be,” said Felix, 40, of Atlanta.
Vick was the face of the Falcons franchise for six-plus seasons. Much like another Atlanta icon, Dominique Wilkins, he was a human highlight reel that filled seats every Sunday.
When Vick was imprisoned for dogfighting and then unceremoniously released by Falcons owner Arthur Blank, his impact was clearly felt.
“It killed the city. You could see the impact inside the [Georgia] Dome once we got rid of Vick,” said Greg, 36, of Atlanta.
“We miss him,” added Richard, 40, of Atlanta. “The crime didn’t fit the punishment.”
