Police have identified the three men who were killed in a mass shooting early Monday morning in Grays Ferry, and they also distributed a video in an attempt to identify three of the gunmen involved.
Nine other people were wounded, including a 19-year-old man who remains in critical condition with two gunshot wounds to his head, according to authorities. Three teenagers – a 15-year-old girl and two 17-year-old boys – were among the victims.
Investigators said the shooting began just before 1 a.m. during a party on the 1500 block of S. Etting Street, near Dickinson Street.
A surveillance clip shared by the PPD Monday night shows a chaotic scene, with bystanders huddling for cover on front porches and shooters apparently exchanging gunfire with a group down the block.
Authorities slowed down the video and are asking for tips to help pinpoint three shooters highlighted in the clip. Ballistic evidence indicates nearly 140 shots were fired, Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said Monday afternoon.
The footage had been circulating on social media before being released by police. It is pulled from a Ring camera on the block.
Zahir Wylie, 23, who lived in Overbrook; Jason Reese, 19, of West Philadelphia; and Azir Harris, 24, of North Philadelphia, were killed in the shooting, according to the PPD.
Harris, who used a wheelchair, was paralyzed in a 2018 shooting and had spoken publicly about his experience as a gun violence survivor. His recovery had been documented by the Inquirer’s Helen Ubiñas.
No arrests have been reported in connection with Monday’s shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
