The NBPA Players Choice Awards on BET may not have been on many people’s radar, but those who did tune in got to witness an epic speech from an NBA legend.
Allen Iverson was honored with the first ever “Game Changers Award” for everything he’s done during in his NBA career and how his personality and style of play impacted the game and influenced many players of today.
After a three-minute video intro highlighting Iverson’s talents and career, A.I. walked up to the stage to accept his award.
During the speech, Iverson talked about his ability to continue to push forward and never give up regardless of how many times he was knocked down. Like many players from his era, he attributed much of his success on the court to Michael Jordan.
He closed the speech by thanking his friends, fans and most importantly, his children and wife Tawanna.
After the show Chris Paul tweeted to show respect for Iverson:

We don’t get to see much of Iverson these days, but it was great for him to receive this award and be honored for the way he played the game.
