The Philadelphia Police are seeking help from the public to identify the individuals responsible for throwing an explosive device into a Chinese restaurant in South Philly, earlier this month.
In surveillance footage that the police shared on Thursday morning, several individuals can be seen walking toward the restaurant on the 500-block of Washington Avenue, on Saturday, Aug. 12, at about 5:30 p.m. while carrying, what police said, was an explosive device.
The footage is viewable, here:
As can be see in the footage, one of the individuals seen walking towards New Dragon City restaurant, at 523 Washington Avenue, throws a lit explosive into the business, where it slid across the floor and exploded.
In the surveillance video, the device seems to explode twice, with an initial blast near a corner of the room and a second that fills the room with a shower of sparks.
Contacted Thursday, a police spokesperson said that law enforcement officials could not confirm what type of device was used during the incident.
After the device exploded, police said that the individual who, law enforcement officials believe threw the device, ran east on Washington Avenue then north on 5th Street.
A police spokesperson also said that the device caused minimal damage to the building and no one was injured in the incident.
Law enforcement officials are seeking information on the individuals involved in this incident. Anyone who may have information on this incident is asked to contact the police at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847.
