Detectives released surveillance video Wednesday in an attempt to identify two young men involved in the shooting of a Wingstop employee earlier this week on City Avenue.

The incident happened just before 5:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at the chain restaurant’s location at 7644 City Ave. in the Overbrook Park neighborhood, according to authorities.

Police said the two suspects got into an argument with staff inside the store because they were trying to use marijuana. The clip shows one of the men appearing to lick a joint before interacting with a clerk.

The dispute escalated, with one of the suspects attempting to slap the worker. Items were also thrown, and the video shows what looks like a drink splattering on the sidewalk as the pair leave the establishment.

One of the men pulled out a gun and fired wildly from outside the store, as another person, presumably an unrelated customer, ducks. Investigators said the singular bullet struck a female staff member, who was reportedly in her 40s and not seriously injured.

They fled the area in a white sedan, possibly a Volvo S60, according to the PPD.

Police described both suspects as having shoulder-length braided hair. At the time of the shooting, one was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt bearing the Glock logo, while the other had on a black and blue AMIRI sweatshirt, law enforcement officials said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the PPD’s Shooting Investigations Group at 215-686-8270/71 or call or text the tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
