Two people were killed and eight others were wounded in a series of shootings over a span of about 12 hours Tuesday night and Wednesday morning across Philadelphia.
Authorities said a woman died and a man was hospitalized after gunfire erupted at around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday on the 1500 block of E. Luzerne Street in Juniata.
Few details were available when Metro went to print Wednesday, including the age of the victims and the man’s condition. No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the deadly shooting, according to police.
On Tuesday, someone fatally shot a man just before 9 p.m. on the 5900 block of Ludlow Street in West Philadelphia, investigators said. The PPD identified the victim Wednesday as 47-year-old Phillip Jackson. No arrests have been reported.
In Tacony, an adult man was in critical condition after someone shot him at around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 6900 block of Marsden Street, according to authorities. He was being treated at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital.
Six people were injured in a pair of separate shootings that occurred a little over an hour apart Tuesday night.
Investigators said three or four masked gunmen hopped out of a white Dodge Durango just before 10:40 p.m. and opened fire on a group of people who were sitting on a porch on the 1500 block of N. Gratz Street in North Philadelphia.
A 16-year-old boy, a 37-year-old woman, and a 34-year-old man were struck by the bullets and hospitalized with non-life-threatening conditions, according to police. The suspects fled the area, and the PPD said the motive for the attack is currently unknown.
Earlier, at around 9:20 p.m., three men – ages 18, 24 and 28 – were shot on the 1500 block of S. Stanley Street in Grays Ferry, authorities said. The victims were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition.

Though the city experienced a particularly violent overnight period, the number of people shot this year within city limits is down 18% compared to the same point in 2024, and homicides have declined nearly 29%, according to police data.
