Weekend crime rundown: Two people killed, two in critical condition in shootings, stabbing

Two people are dead and two people are in critical condition following three shootings and one stabbing over the weekend.

Police are looking for two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Southwest Philadelphia Friday afternoon. Police said the victim, 22, who has not yet been identified, was found lying on the street next to a black Pontiac Grand Prix at 60th Street and Springfield Avenue shortly before 11:45 a.m. He had been shot multiple times in his upper body. The man was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he died at 12:15 p.m.

Two men are wanted for the slaying. One suspect is described as a black male between five-foot-ten and six-foot-one with a heavy build. He was wearing jeans, a blue hoodie and tan Timberland boots. The second suspect is described as a black male between five-foot-ten and six feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing jeans and a white hoodie.

Police are also investigating the death of a woman shot and killed
early Saturday morning outside an apartment building in West
Philadelphia.

Police said the victim, who has been identified as
22-year-old Zykia Sanders of the 300 block of West Berkley Street in Germantown, was found shortly before 2:20 a.m. lying unresponsive on the ground outside
the West Park Apartments on the 4400 block of Holden Street. She had been shot in the back.

Sanders died at
the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania shortly after 2:30 a.m.
Investigators do not believe she was the intended target. No motive has been released and no arrests have yet been made.

A man is in critical condition after he was shot in the neck in Northeast Philadelphia yesterday afternoon. Officers found the victim, 27, on the 2600 block of Welsh Road shortly before 1:40 p.m. and rushed him to Aria Hospital-Torresdale.

Investigators are now searching for a suspect, described as a five-foot-ten black man with a stocky build and full beard who was wearing a leather jacket.

A second man is in critical condition after he was stabbed multiple times in an unrelated incident in North Philadelphia last night. Police said the victim, 32, was stabbed in the neck, arm and shoulder on the 1600 block of West Glenwood Avenue shortly before 8:30 p.m. He is in critical condition at Temple University Hospital.

No arrests have yet been made in either of those cases.
