Another weekend of violence raged across the city of Philadelphia. Here’s what you might have missed this weekend.
Friday
Within the 2200 block of E. Washington Lane, a 26-year-old was found by his uncle in their living room. The victim was pronounced dead at 1:45 pm.
At 4:22 pm, there was a narcotics strike force serving a warrant that was fired upon by a male at the location. A lieutenant discharged his weapon once and the shooter was taken into custody with no further issues. No one was injured.
At 7:33 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot once in the left side of his stomach and was transported to Temple Hospital by police. No weapon was recovered and no arrests have been made.
Saturday
It was reported by ABC that a 60-year-old man was shot and killed in a home in North Philly.
Police said that the incident occurred Saturday night at 6:20 pm within the 3000 block of Bambrey Street.
The victim was shot multiple times in the chest and was pronounced dead by police.
The alleged sister of the victim, Lawanna Rawls, told ABC that her brother was the victim of a robbery that went wrong.
“My brother John Rawls was a good man,” she said. “Whoever it was kicked the door in and tried to rob him, but my brother don’t give nothing up he fought back. I think he fought back.”
She told outlets that they had lived in the neighborhood for five years.
Officials told outlets on the scene that a weapon was recovered, but no arrests were made.
Sunday
ABC reports that two men were hospitalized after an early morning shooting in the Strawberry Mansion area of Philly.
Philly PD told outlets that they responded to an incident at a home in the 2400 block of North Patten Street.
The officers found two men in their twenties with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was shot in the stomach, and the other was shot in the hand.
Both were taken to Temple University Hospital where one of the victims was listed in critical condition. The other was listed in stable condition.
A gun was recovered at the scene and the police have two suspects in custody.
According to Philly PD there have been 25 homicides as of Jan. 18.
