West Philadelphia Stick-Up Leaves Man Hospitalized

Police are investigating an early-morning West Philadelphia stick-up that left one man hospitalized.

Three men were walking on the 5500 block of Ludlow Street shortly before 2 a.m. when a man approached, pulled out a shotgun and demanded the give up anything of value.

Two of the men ran away while the third, who had nothing to give the mugger, was shot in the temple.

The victim, 21, was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and is in stable condition.

Police recovered a BB gun near the scene but say that it was not likely the weapon used in the robbery. “I don’t think you’d confuse a shotgun with a BB gun,” a police spokeswoman said.
