Not all of us should be cooking a turkey, and stuffing is more complicated that it looks. Whether the kitchen just isn’t your forte or you pride yourself on your oven skills but don’t have time to put Thanksgiving together this year, we found restaurants offering Turkey Day meals to take home. Go ahead, pretend you made it all yourself — we won’t tell.
Main course
The poultry experts at Fette Sau (1208 Frankford Ave., 215-391-4888) will feed the whole family and then some, with a big bird, plus gravy, sweet potato mash, green beans with onions and stuffing with hot Italian sausage for 10 to 12 hungry people. Or, you can order just the turkey and gravy. Jones (700 Chestnut St., 215-223-5663) is offering a classic T’giving feast, with a whole roasted turkey, stuffing, sweet potato mash, glazed carrots, cranberry relish, pumpkin roll and pecan pie. Order by Nov. 25. Spending the holiday down by the shore? Guy Fieri’s Chophouse in Bally’s is offering a take-out menu. Pick up a fried or roasted turkey or brown sugar–cured Virginia ham, plus giblet gravy, orange-cranberry sauce, veggies and sides. Order by 3 p.m. on Nov. 25. Why wait for Thursday? Jake’s Sandwich Board (122 S. 12th St., 215-922-0102) already brought back its turducken sandwich for the season: cranberry spread, apple-sausage stuffing, Creole-seasoned turkey, duck and chicken, hash browns and brown gravy. Wash it down with Jake’s pumpkin pie shake. On the side
Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar’s locations in University City, Glen Mills and North Wales are cooking up family-sized sides, so you can focus on the main course. Order by Sunday and pick up on Nov. 26. The options, made with locally sourced ingredients, include butternut squash soup, salad, green bean casserole, mac ’n’ cheese, sweet potato mash and garlic mashed potatoes. And for dessert
Magpie Artisan Pie Boutique (1622 South St.) is baking four pies designed to complement Thanksgiving fare. Choose from pumpkin praline, butterscotch bourbon, chocolate coffee cinnamon pecan and caramel apple. Order by Saturday. Dine out
Not enough room to host the whole family? Reserve a table at Davio’s (111 S. 17th St, 215-563-4810). The Rittenhouse restaurant has a prix fixe menu, and the chefs will even carve your turkey tableside. Give back
While you’re shopping for Thanksgiving dinner at Fitler Square Farmers’ Market (23rd and Pine) on Saturday or Headhouse Farmers’ Market (Second and Lombard) on Sunday, pick up a few extra veggies and donate them to Green Light Pantries, part of the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger, working with The Food Trust.
