The holiday season is upon us, and even though large gatherings with friends and family is relatively out for this year, many are still shopping up a storm to send some love to those they care about. One of the best ways to find gifts and help the community at the same time is to stay local and shop at small businesses, and Philadelphians will be able to do that this weekend on East Passyunk.

The South Philly neighborhood is home to more than 150 independently-owned shops and restaurants, and many of its establishments will be taking part in Small Business Saturday with an array of discounts, specials and more. The event takes place on Nov. 28th and will last during participating store hours.

“Every year East Passyunk Avenue offers holiday shoppers some of the most unique, and memorable gifting in the city,” said Adam Leiter, Executive Director of the East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District in a statement. “This year it’s even more imperative to show support for these independent businesses by shopping locally so they can be here tomorrow.”

It’s no secret that 2020 has hit businesses hard, and to combat the struggles that the economy is facing, support from residents is nothing short of imperative. There are a few highlighted businesses providing specials and more that everyone can benefit from this upcoming Small Business Saturday.

A Novel Idea

The book store will be offering specials not just on Small Business Saturday, but for three days starting this Friday, Nov. 27. Additionally, those who spend $50 will take home a free t-shirt or pin, and those who spend $100, will receive a free A.N.I. tote bag.
