Just days before an eighth-grade special education teacher at a Philadelphia public school in the Northeast was charged with the statutory rape of one of her students, she uploaded photographs to Facebook of herself smiling and surrounded by young teens, captioned, “My fav students!”
It is unknown if Stephanie Amato’s 14-year-old victim, who prosecutors say Amato had sexual intercourse with between March and April of this year, is pictured on her Facebook profile, which is still visible to the public.
But it seems apparent that Amato, 30, became far too close with her male students.
Amato was also tagged in another photo that same day with several of the same students, several of whom are giving the camera the middle finger.
Amato was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault and indecent exposure, the D.A.’s office announced on Wednesday.
“Ms. Amato engaged in ‘consensual’ sex with one of her 14-year-old male students at her home and in her car on multiple occasions between March and April of this year,” the D.A.’s office said in a statement announcing the charges.
Amato will return to court June 24 and was reportedly released after posting 10 percent of $125,000 bail.
