Wigs and pillow talk take center stage at Media Day

The show goes on. Such went the tweet from NFL spokesman Greg Aiello, after an ice storm struck the Dallas area and threatened to derail media activities.

The Dallas-Fort Worth airport was closed for an hour — and 800 flights cancelled — but that didn’t stop the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers from soaring to the podium. Some highlights:

So, do you want a lap dance with that wig?

A wig designed to simulate Steelers safety Troy Polamalu’s trademark curls was making the rounds at new Cowboys Stadium.

Several players, including teammate Hines Ward, put on the wig and laughed it up with reporters. Ward was reportedly seen at a Dallas strip club Monday night. When asked where he was hanging out, Ward responded, “None of your business.”

Matthews, Polamalu in epic hair battle

Clay Matthews, who lost to Polamalu by two votes in Defensive Player of the Year voting, proudly displayed his own mane. The Packers linebacker recently signed a deal with Suave, putting him in direct competition with Polamalu, who is sponsored by Head & Shoulders.

“Troy may have won Defensive Player of the Year, and that’s great, but there’s no doubt that I won best hair in the game on the defensive side,” Matthews said. “I’m really happy about that. I think it’s a unanimous decision.”

Memo to commish: Bring your pillow

Steelers linebacker James Harrison has been the poster boy for illegal hits. Naturally, he used his allotted time to take a sarcastic shot at NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who has fined him $100,000.

“I don’t want to hurt nobody,” Harrison said. “I just want to tackle them softly on the ground, and if you all can, we’ll lay a pillow down where I’m going to tackle them, so they don’t hit the ground too hard … Mr. Goodell.”

Harrison added that he would do anything necessary to make a tackle.
