A man who turned 28 yesterday was struck by a car and left to die on a Fishtown street early yesterday morning. William McCue was crossing the 2500 block of Richmond Street at 2:23 a.m. when he was struck.
Police said McCue, of the 3000 block of East Thompson Street, “mounted and rode the hood of the vehicle for 50 feet” before falling to the ground. An off-duty officer apparently found McCue in the middle of the street that runs under I-95. He was taken to Hahnemann Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The only information police released about the hit-and-run vehicle is that it should have damage to its hood and, possibly, windshield. Anybody with information should call the Accident Investigation Unit at 215-685-3180 or submit an anonymous tip online at www.phillypolice.com.
