A 64-year-old woman who apparently walked with a cane was fatally shot early Thursday morning in Kingsessing, authorities said.
Officers responded at around 2:45 a.m. to the 5200 block of Greenway Avenue, where they found the victim lying on the street with multiple gunshot wounds, according to police. Investigators said she was declared dead a short time later at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. The PPD has not publicly identified her.
Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told television crews at the scene that a cane was found under the victim and that detectives recovered evidence indicating at least 11 shots were fired.
No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the killing, and authorities said the motive was unclear. Anyone with information is asked to contact the PPD’s Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or call or text the department’s tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
