Woman alleges she was abducted, held captive for a week in Crescentville home

Police are investigating a woman’s claims that she was kidnapped from a West Philadelphia street and held captive for a week in a home on the 500 block of East Godfrey Avenue in Crescentville.

The 22-year-old woman told investigators that she was able to escape this morning and ask for help when the man left the house. But authorities said that, though the man is in custody, it appears that he is known to the victim and the nature of their prior relationship is unclear. Neither the victim’s identity nor that of the suspect have been released, and no charges have yet been filed.

Police said that they are questioning those involved in an attempt to sort the situation out. Check back for the latest on this developing story.
