Woman caught in crossfire walking home in West Philadelphia

A woman walking home in West Philadelphia’s Carroll Park neighborhood is in critical condition after being caught in the crossfire of a shooting last night.

The woman, 38, was walking from a store at 59th and Master streets, the witness who accompanied her told police. As they approached Hobart Street around 9:20 p.m., they heard gunshots. The victim was struck in the head.

The victim was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she is in critical but stable condition.

The women did not see the shooters. Investigators are canvassing the areas for additional witnesses.

No arrests have yet been made.
