A 75-year-old woman was struck by a 49-year-old school bus driver Tuesday morning in East Germantown, police said.

Authorities responded to an incident in which a pedestrian was hit in the crosswalk of the 5700 block of Chew Avenue.

The pedestrian was headed westbound on Chelten Avenue, crossing Chew Avenue in the crosswalk, when a school bus traveling eastbound made a left turn onto Chelten and made contact with the woman, authorities said.

A PFD medical unit transported the pedestrian to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she was placed in critical condition.

There were no reported injuries to any of the people in the bus, including the children present, police said. The school the bus involved supports was not disclosed at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
