A 66-year-old woman died after being hit by an SUV and a SEPTA bus early Saturday morning in the Wissinoming section of Northeast Philadelphia, according to authorities.

Police said the crash occurred just after 1:15 a.m. on the 5800 block of Frankford Avenue, not far from SEPTA’s Frankford Transportation Center.

The driver of a white Dodge Durango was heading south when the woman “walked out into the middle of the street,” the PPD said in an account of the incident. She was knocked into Frankford Avenue’s northbound lanes and struck by the bus, investigators said.

Medics pronounced her dead at the scene minutes after the collision. Authorities have not publicly identified the woman.

Police said the Durango driver and bus operator remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
