A woman was fatally shot early Tuesday morning after gunfire erupted in Strawberry Mansion, authorities said.

Police were called just after 12:15 a.m. to the 3100 block of W. Montgomery Avenue, where they found Jasmine Johnson unresponsive inside a house with a gunshot wound to her back, investigators said. Medics declared her dead at the scene.

PPD Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that Johnson was on the porch of her property with two other people at the time of the shooting. She ran inside the house and collapsed in the living room.

“It seems that there was some sort of a shootout,” Small said. Law enforcement reportedly discovered fired cartridge casings from a rifle and a handgun on the street

No arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of the killing. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).

Police data shows that 156 people have been murdered in Philadelphia this year, down nearly 17% compared to the same date in 2024.
