A 52-year-old woman was struck by a tractor-trailer and killed Thursday morning after stepping off a SEPTA bus in North Philadelphia, police said.

The crash occurred just before 9 a.m. at the corner of Broad Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue, near Temple University’s main campus.

Police said the bus and tractor-trailer were next to each other, stopped at a red light when the woman exited the vehicle. The tractor-trailer was on the bus’s left, and the woman walked in front of the bus to cross Cecil B. Moore, according to authorities.

At that point, the light turned green and the truck hit her, investigators said. She was taken to Temple University Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later.

The driver remained at the scene, and no charges were immediately filed, according to police. Authorities have not publicly identified the woman.
