The University of Pennsylvania‘s adult alternative WXPN (88.5) has announced that Philadelphia’s Joey Sweeney will become the new Saturday morning host of ‘Sleepy Hollow,’ beginning Saturday, Aug. 9.
With a wealth of experience as a writer, musician, and as the creative director of 48 Record Bar, Sweeney’s background is fit to be a welcome addition to the program.
Known for its thoughtful blend of folk, jazz, and atmospheric sounds, ‘Sleepy Hollow’ has become a beloved weekend tradition for many in the Philadelphia area. With his background in storytelling, Sweeney is a natural fit to carry on the tradition Saturday mornings.

“I’m truly honored to help carry the torch for this beloved show that’s been a part of people’s lives for over 50 years,” says Sweeney. “It’s a dream time slot — to connect with folks in this soulful, contemplative moment in their week is something really special. Having only recently discovered mornings myself, I can’t wait to share the best, deepest music I can find.”
Sleepy Hollow airs weekends from 6 to 10 a.m. on WXPN. Sweeney will take over hosting duties on Saturdays beginning Aug. 9. Keith Kelleher will continue as the Sunday host, and longtime show curator Chuck Elliott will continue to host ‘Sleepy Hollow’ special editions and themed broadcasts.
