A TKO of a comedy event is coming to the Adrienne Theater next week.

The Yo Adrienne! Improv Festival will feature three days of showcases from some of the top local and national comedy talent, plus, workshops, meet-ups and more. Known as the largest event of its kind in the Philadelphia region, the activation will take place Aug. 29 to 31 on two stages spread across the venue.

Headlining acts include Schmooty!, a top independent team in Philadelphia, and Man vs. Movie, an acclaimed one-man show featuring Paul Vaillancourt, a veteran Los Angeles-based improviser who cofounded iO West and authored ‘The Triangle of the Scene.’ Other acts include Bird and Friends: Cosmic Unity (New York City), Awkward Conversations (Hartford, Connecticut), BABE (Richmond, Virginia), Barbra (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania), Improvised Columbo (New York City), and 1800CHANGEDMYLIFE (Austin, Texas), a release notes.

Vaillancourt will also be leading workshops covering a variety of subjects, including his aforementioned book on improv comedy, plus, “The Slacker,” and “Starting Scenes Stronger.” Additionally, anyone is welcome to hit the stage in the festival’s series of improv jams, whether you’re a first-time beginner or a seasoned expert.

The Yo Adrienne! Improv Festival is independently run by a few familiar faces in the local comedy world: Sam Miller (Bark0), Dominick Arp (SideQuest Theater), Renata Rabinovich (Hat on a Hat), and Kiran Pandey (From the Future).

“The Adrienne Theater has been a home for many Philadelphia improvisers, and this weekend aims to celebrate all that makes our community special,” says the production team. “We hope people come out to see some of the best improv in the city. And by that, we mean us. We’re performing. Why else would we produce this thing?”

Festival performances start at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Event passes ($50-$75), day passes ($25), and workshop tickets (various prices) are currently available for purchase online. To find out more information on The Yo Adrienne!
