Fourteen years ago yesterday, Notorious BIG was murdered in Los Angeles. Almost all of the Sixers were in elementary school. But, just like the rest of the world, they are aware of his legacy.
Even Lou Williams, 24, an aspiring rapper himself, is impressed by the effect Christopher Wallace’s life and death had on so many people.
“It’s incredible. That’s legacy type of stuff, right?” said Williams, noting that he was “on the Tupac side of things.”
Evan Turner was introduced to Notorious BIG by his older brother. He said the stories the New York rapper told caught his ear.
“He was realistic. He wasn’t there saying he’s a pretty boy,” Turner said. “He would say ‘heartthrob never, black and ugly as ever.’ He rapped about stuff that people relate to.”
Added Turner, “That’s just a smooth dude.”
