1 killed, 2 injured in overnight shootings

A man was killed in Northeast Philadelphia and two other people were fatally shot during robberies in overnight shootings.

Officers responded just before 11:15 p.m. Wednesday to the 4300 block of Devereaux Avenue in Wissinoming, where they found a 19-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his head, chest and arm, police said.

He succumbed to his injuries around midnight, according to authorities. Investigators said a weapon was recovered at the scene, but no arrests have been made.

In Kensington, two gunmen shot a man during a robbery just before 5:45 a.m. Thursday on the 2700 block of Boudinot Street, police said.

The suspects took cash, and the victim, a 56-year-old man, was shot in his left thigh, according to authorities. He was transported to Temple University Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

A 25-year-old woman was shot in her arm during an attempted carjacking at around 3:15 a.m. Thursday on the 2800 block of Belmont Avenue in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia, according to police.

Investigators said the woman was a passenger in a Hyundai when two armed suspects approached the vehicle. She was later listed in critical condition at Lankenau Medical Center.

Earlier Wednesday, just before 6 p.m., a man died after being shot on the 6200 block of Bustleton Avenue, near Taste of Brazil restaurant in Oxford Circle, police said.

Authorities identified the victim Thursday morning as 23-year-old James Cundiff, who was from New Bedford, Massachusetts. Detectives have not made an arrest in the case.
