1 killed, 2 injured in overnight shootings

A young man was killed and two other people were wounded by gunfire late Tuesday and early Wednesday in Philadelphia.

Officers responded just before 10 p.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of N. Preston Street in the Powelton neighborhood, where they found 20-year-old Kameir Scott suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, according to police.

Scott, of West Philadelphia, died of his injuries a short time later at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, authorities said. Police did not arrest anyone in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.

Early Wednesday, just after 12:15 a.m., someone shot a 25-year-old man in the alley that runs behind the 5800 block of N. 4th Street in Olney, investigators said. He was taken to Einstein Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his thigh and placed in stable condition.

In West Oak Lane, a man in his 40s was shot in his abdomen at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday outside on the 7400 block of Ogontz Avenue, according to police. He was rushed to Einstein in critical condition.

Earlier Tuesday, at around 5 p.m., officers found a 40-year-old man dead with a gunshot wound to his forehead inside the basement of a property on the 3300 block of Argyle Street in Kensington, according to investigators.

Authorities have not publicly identified the victim, and no arrests have been made.
