1 killed, 4 injured in shootings

At least one person was killed and four other people were wounded in separate shootings Monday in Philadelphia.

Police said a 35-year-old man was shot multiple times at around 2:15 a.m. on the 500 block of S. Front Street in the Society Hill neighborhood. He was rushed to Jefferson University Hospital, where he died a short time later.

In North Philadelphia, someone shot a 20-year-old man twice in his left leg at 12:15 p.m. Monday on the 100 block of E. Hunting Park Avenue, police said. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

Two men were struck when gunfire erupted just before 1:30 a.m. Monday on the 900 block of Reno Place, in the Philadelphia Housing Authority’s Richard Allen Homes development in North Philadelphia, authorities said.

A 22-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his chest and was hospitalized in critical condition, police said. The other victim, a 21-year-old man, was shot in his back, and his injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to investigators.

Earlier, at around 1 a.m., a 34-year-old man walked into the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania’s Cedar Avenue campus with a gunshot wound to his shoulder, authorities said. He was listed in stable condition. Police said that the location of the shooting remains unknown.

No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of any of the shootings.
