12 shot over weekend in Philadelphia

At least a dozen people were shot — two fatally — in separate incidents Saturday and Sunday in Philadelphia.

Then, on Sunday afternoon, at around 12:45 p.m., the body of a 31-year-old man was found burned behind a property on the 200 block of E. Hortter in East Mount Airy, according to authorities.

Police said the man had possible gunshot wounds, but a cause of death was not determined Sunday.

On Saturday, just before 1 p.m., someone shot a 20-year-old man multiple times on the 500 block of W. Bristol Street in the Hunting Park neighborhood, investigators said.

Officers took the man to Temple University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

A 22-year-old woman was sitting behind the wheel of a car at around 3 a.m. Saturday on the 200 block of E. Tioga Street in Kensington when she was shot twice in the chest, police said. She died a short time later at the hospital.

Authorities said a 25-year-old man who was in the passenger’s seat was hit in the forearm. He is expected to physically recover.

Early Sunday morning, at around 3:30 a.m., a 30-year-old man was shot once in the neck and once in the leg on the 3200 block of Glenview Street in Mayfair, investigators said. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

A 28-year-old man is expected to survive after he was shot five times at around 1:15 a.m. Sunday near the corner of 22nd and Toronto streets in North Philadelphia, according to police.

On Saturday morning, at around 9 a.m., someone shot a 54-year-old man once in the leg on the 1400 block of N. 76th Street in Overbrook Park, authorities said. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

A 43-year-old man drove himself to the hospital after he was shot twice in the calf at around 8 a.m. Saturday at the corner of 25th and Diamond streets in North Philadelphia. He was later listed in stable condition.

In West Philadelphia, a 27-year-old man was struck in both knees after gunfire erupted just after 4:15 a.m. Saturday on 58th Street near Market Street, police said. He is expected to survive.

Earlier, at around 2:30 a.m., a 23-year-old man was shot once in the foot on the 5500 block of Rising Sun Avenue in Olney, authorities said.

At around the same time, a 65-year-old man was shot once in the right arm on the 2700 block of N. Ringgold Street in North Philadelphia, investigators said.

Police said a 21-year-old man sustained a wound to his right calf after shots were fired at around 2 a.m. Saturday at Princeton Avenue and Walker Street in Tacony.

In Center City, just before 1:15 a.m. Saturday, someone shot a 24-year-old man in the left ankle on the 1300 block of Spruce Street.
