12 wounded in weekend shootings

At least 12 people were injured in shootings Saturday and Sunday across Philadelphia.

Investigators said a store owner shot a man who had allegedly just committed a gunpoint robbery Sunday in Juniata.

The gunfire occurred at around noon inside a convenience store on the 4900 block of L Street, according to authorities. A 20-year-old gunman held up the store before the owner fired at him, police said.

Officers found the robbery suspect in a car nearby at the corner of K Street and Hunting Park Avenue, and investigators recovered two guns. He was hospitalized in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his leg and is expected to face charges, authorities said.

Earlier, at around 5 a.m., and also in Juniata, a 32-year-old man was shot in his hand during an attempted robbery on the 600 block of E. Wyoming Avenue, police said. He was taken to Jefferson Frankford Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Three men wearing ski masks injured two people during a shooting just before 2:45 a.m. Sunday on the 5800 block of N. Lawrence Street in Olney, authorities said.

Police said a 23-year-old woman was shot in her face and torso and rushed to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition. The other victim, a 25-year-old man, was shot five times and hospitalized in stable condition, according to investigators.

Three people were seriously wounded when gunfire erupted at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Kensington and Allegheny avenues in Kensington, police said.

Investigators said a 27-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman were both shot in the back. A third victim – a man whose age was not publicly released – was struck in his upper back and chin, authorities said. Police did not immediately respond Sunday when asked for information about their conditions.

On Saturday, just before midnight, someone shot a 23-year-old man in his shoulder, forearm and foot on the 1900 block of E. Somerset Street in Kensington, according to authorities. He was later listed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital.

In South Philadelphia, a 22-year-old man was shot in his shoulder at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on the 1400 block of S. 7th Street, police said. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Investigators said a 20-year-old woman was hospitalized after being shot at 12:45 p.m. Saturday inside a property on the 4900 block of N. 7th Street in Olney. She was in stable condition with a gunshot wound to her right thigh.

A 29-year-old man showed up to Jefferson Methodist Hospital at around 11 a.m. Saturday after he was shot once in his knee on the 1600 block of Tasker Avenue in Point Breeze, police said. He is expected to physically recover.

Earlier, just after 7:15 a.m. Saturday, a man shot another man during an argument on the 800 block of E. Allegheny Avenue in Kensington, according to authorities. The 41-year-old victim suffered a wound to his right leg and was hospitalized in stable condition.
