A man was killed and five others were wounded when someone opened fire at a party early Saturday morning in Nicetown, police said.
Elsewhere in Philadelphia, a man was fatally shot and six other people were injured in weekend shootings, according to authorities.
Gunfire erupted inside what police described as an “after-hours club” on the 4200 block of Germantown Avenue at around 3:45 a.m. Saturday.
A 29-year-old man who had been shot 14 times died a short time later at Temple University Hospital.
Police said a 33-year-old man, 30-year-old woman, 38-year-old man, 41-year-old man and 40-year-old woman were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. All five were later listed in stable condition.
Authorities said the investigation into the shooting is in its early stages, and there have been no arrests.
In Kensington, a 23-year-old man was killed after being shot once in the chest just before 6 p.m. Saturday inside an apartment on the 2900 block of Jasper Street, police said. A 27-year-old man was also shot in the right arm and is expected to survive.
Investigators said a 26-year-old man was apprehended, and officers recovered two guns at the scene. His name has not been released.
On Sunday, just before 3:45 a.m., Temple University campus police rushed a 33-year-old man to the hospital after he was shot several times in both legs on the 2200 block of N. Broad Street in North Philadelphia.
He was taken to the emergency room in critical condition, according to police.
Authorities said a 58-year-old man drove himself and another shooting victim to Einstein Medical Center after being shot eight times just before midnight Sunday on the 200 block of E. Clarkson Avenue in Olney.
He is being treated for wounds to the right side of his body and is expected to physically recover. The other victim, a 21-year-old man, was shot twice in the right leg, and he is in stable condition, police said.
In West Philadelphia, a 25-year-old man was shot once in the left arm at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday on the 5200 block of Arch Street. Officers transported him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he is in stable condition.
The victim was allegedly carrying a gun and drugs, and authorities said he is expected to face charges.
At around 5:45 p.m. Saturday, a man in his 40s was shot multiple times in the lower body on the 4600 block of Wayne Avenue in Germantown, police said.
He was rushed to Einstein in critical condition. Police said an arrest was made at the scene, but no further details were provided.
