2 killed, 3 wounded in shootings across Philadelphia

Gunfire left two men dead and three others wounded in separate shootings late Monday and early Tuesday in Philadelphia.

Authorities said a 33-year-old man was shot several times just before 2 p.m. Tuesday on the 1900 block of N. Croskey Street in North Philadelphia. He died a short time later at Temple University Hospital.

Frederick Douglass Mastery Charter School, located nearby, was placed on lockdown due to the shooting, according to police.

Investigators said 31-year-old Terrence Lamar Crowder was killed when someone opened fire in the entryway of his home at around 6 p.m. Monday on the 1000 block of W. Ontario Street in North Philadelphia.

Detectives believe the suspect knocked on the door of Crowder’s duplex and shot him in his neck, chest and arm, police said.

There were no details released about a possible motive in either homicide, and no arrests have been made.

On Monday, just after 10:45 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot twice in his chest and eight times in his legs inside an apartment building on the 6300 block of Chew Avenue in East Germantown, police said.

Officers took him to Einstein Medical Center, where he was being treated for serious injuries, according to authorities.

In South Philadelphia, shots were fired during a fight Monday night, leaving two men hospitalized in critical condition, investigators said.

Patrol officers heard gunshots at around 7:15 p.m. and responded to the 2500 block of S. 8th Street, where they found a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his right hip, authorities said. Inside a property on the block, they discovered a 27-year-old man who had been shot in both of his legs, according to police.

Investigators said the two gunshot victims got into a physical altercation and two other people attempted to intervene, prompting a shootout. Police said those two individuals were apprehended and two guns were recovered at the scene.
