Two people were killed in separate shootings Sunday night, and gunfire left several others wounded early Monday in Philadelphia.
Police said a 22-year-old man died after being shot multiple times just before 8:30 p.m. inside a deli on the 2100 block of S. Broad Street in South Philadelphia.
Less than 30 minutes earlier, a 42-year-old man was shot once in the chest on the 3200 block of Defense Terrace, which is part of the Philadelphia Housing Authority’s Abbottsford Homes development in East Falls.
Officers rushed him to Temple University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries just before 8:30 p.m.
On Monday, at around 9:45 a.m., a 29-year-old man showed up at Temple University Hospital with gunshot wounds to his right arm and buttocks following a shooting on the 2600 block of N. 7th St. in the Fairhill neighborhood, authorities said.
The victim, who was also grazed in the back of the head, is expected to survive.
A 40-year-old woman was grazed in the head after someone opened fire at around 8:30 a.m. Monday on the 2800 block of N. 27th Street in North Philadelphia, police said. She was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Authorities said a 27-year-old man was shot in the right ear at around 1:30 a.m. Monday on the 4000 block of Parkside Avenue in the Parkside section of West Philadelphia.
He was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and his injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to police.
Two men were hospitalized after gunfire erupted just before 1:15 a.m. Monday on the 200 block of S. 12th Street in Center City, investigators said.
A 28-year-old man sustained wounds to his back, right leg and buttocks and was taken to Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition. The other victim, a 25-year-old man, was shot in the left leg and walked to Pennsylvania Hospital.
Police said an arrest was made at the scene, and officers found a gun. No further details have been released.
On Sunday, just before 10:30 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot five times inside a house on the 3400 block of Tampa Street in Kensington, authorities said. He is being treated at Temple University Hospital and is expected to survive.
A 29-year-old man was rushed to the hospital after being shot twice in the neck, once in the chest, twice in the right arm and once in the right leg just before 8 p.m. Sunday near the corner of Bambrey Street and Allegheny Avenue in the Tioga neighborhood.
Police said he is expected to physically recover.
The overnight violence came hours after a mass shooting Sunday afternoon in Fairhill that left six people wounded, including a 20-year-old man who was in critical condition. No arrests have been made in the case.
