2 killed, 6 injured in separate shootings

Two people were killed and six others were wounded in separate shootings late Tuesday and early in the day Wednesday in Philadelphia.

A 35-year-old man died after being shot multiple times at around 3 p.m. Wednesday on the 500 block of 67th Avenue in East Oak Lane, police said.

Ten minutes earlier, two men were struck when shots were fired near the corner of Gratz Street and Susquehanna Avenue in North Philadelphia, according to authorities.

Police said a 31-year-old man was taken to Temple University Hospital with gunshot wounds to his back, side and arm, and he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. The other victim, a 28-year-old man, was shot in his eye and chest, and investigators said he was later listed in critical condition.

No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of either killing.

A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized with serious injuries after he was shot in his left arm and armpit area at around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 2500 block of Aramingo Avenue in Port Richmond, police said.

The teenager was reportedly shot while inside an SUV, and he ran into a nearby Wawa following the incident. Medics rushed him to Temple University Hospital, and he is expected to survive, according to authorities.

Hours later, just after 10 a.m., another 15-year-old boy showed up to Einstein Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his shoulder, police said. Detectives believe he was wounded in the same shooting. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

Just before 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the 1000 block of Wagner Avenue in Logan, where they found a 53-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his left arm, investigators said. He was transported to Einstein Medical Center and listed in stable condition.

A 23-year-old man was in critical condition after being shot in the chest at around 10:30 p.m. Monday on the 800 block of Cherry Street in Chinatown, according to authorities.

Investigators said a 40-year-old male suspect was apprehended and a gun was recovered at the scene. No further information was released Wednesday.

In Frankford, someone shot a 34-year-old man in both of his legs just before 8:45 p.m. Tuesday on the 4700 block of Frankford Avenue, police said. He was hospitalized with nonlife-threatening injuries.
