4 killed Wednesday in Philly

Four people were fatally shot over a period of about seven hours Wednesday in Philadelphia.

In Kensington, a 44-year-old man was shot multiple times just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 3000 block of A Street, police said. He was taken to Temple’s Episcopal Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Authorities said a 22-year-old man was shot three times in the chest and twice in the back just after 8 p.m. Wednesday on the porch of a house on the 2200 block of S. 69th Street in West Philadelphia.

Medical staff at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center pronounced him dead at around 8:40 p.m., according to police.

A 55-year-old man was killed following a triple shooting at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 2700 block of N. Warnock Street in Logan.

Officers rushed him to Temple University Hospital after he was shot in the chest and left hand.

Police said a 47-year-old man and a 25-year-old man were each shot once in both legs. The pair were in stable condition and expected to survive.

Earlier in the day, just after 3 p.m., an 18-year-old man was gunned down near the corner of 17th Street and Erie Avenue in North Philadelphia.

No arrests have been reported in connection with the killings.

So far in 2021, 83 people have been murdered in the city, up from 65 at this point last year, according to police statistics.

On Thursday, at around 10:30 a.m., a 28-year-old man was shot once in the left ankle on the 2000 block of Snyder Avenue in South Philadelphia, authorities said. He was transported to Penn Presbyterian in stable condition.

Police said a 43-year-old man was shot in the back and left thigh at around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Parkside section of West Philadelphia. He was hospitalized and is expected to physically recover.

Three men were apprehended following a double shooting that occurred just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 5100 block of Haverford Avenue in West Philadelphia.

A man, who authorities said is approximately 20 years old, was shot once in the chest and taken to Penn Presbyterian in critical condition. Another male victim was shot once in the hip and listed in stable condition.

Three guns were recovered, but police did not release additional information about the suspects.
