Combine your love of cycling with a dash of ballet for this 50-minute class that covers both cardio and focused toning exercises. When it comes to getting in shape, owner Juliet Sabella offers the following advice: “Take your new routine one day at a time.” Functional Interval Training Okay — so you ate a lot of cookies this holiday season. How about a high intensity burn with Functional Interval Training (FIT) at Roots Athletics? This circuit training session implements medicine balls, resistance bands and battle ropes to get your blood pumping and your muscles fierce. Expect to burn between 900 to 1300 calories in each class. If you need a little more motivation to try it — the first class is free! No excuses. Dance Classes Just because you stopped taking dance classes once you hit high school, doesn’t mean you can’t start up again! Koresh Dance Academy at Rittenhouse Square offers beginner, intermediate and advanced classes for adults. Choose from tap, ballet, jazz and even hip-hop to add a little spring to your step and get the body moving after spending hours behind a desk. What’s more, your first class is only $5.
