5 killed in Philly shootings

Five people were killed in Philadelphia Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, and an 8-year-old girl was injured by gunfire after getting off a SEPTA train.

Investigators said she was getting off the Market-Frankford Line at the Allegheny station with a relative at around 8 p.m. when she was shot in the left leg.

She got home, and her mother took her to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. Her injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, police said.

No arrests have been made.

Just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the 3100 block of W. Arizona Street in Strawberry Mansion, where they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

A 44-year-old man who had been shot in the chest and both thighs was rushed to Temple University Hospital, police said. He died of his injuries about 20 minutes later.

The second victim, a 45-year-old man, was in critical condition with six gunshot wounds to his right leg.

In Frankford, a 29-year-old man died after he was shot in the back and left arm just before 9 a.m. Wednesday on the 5200 block of Frankford Avenue, authorities said.

Police said a 29-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene following a shooting at around 2 a.m. Wednesday on the 3100 block of N. Broad Street in North Philadelphia.

Officers responding to the scene found him with a gunshot wound to the head.

Less than an hour earlier, police found a 21-year-old man who had been shot in the head on the 5300 block of Willows Avenue in Kingsessing. Medics pronounced him dead on-site, according to police.

A 50-year-old man was shot once in the stomach just before 9 p.m. Tuesday on the 5600 block of N. 4th Street in Olney, authorities said.

Officers rushed him to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he died shortly thereafter.

Police reported no arrests in connection with any of the killings.

Investigators said a 36-year-old man was shot four times during an attempted carjacking Tuesday night in Holmesburg.

The incident occurred at around 7:15 p.m. on the 7600 block of Frankford Avenue. Two suspects shot the man, who was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital and listed in stable condition.

In Kensington, officers heard gunshots just after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and found a 41-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds on the 1800 block of E. Allegheny Avenue.

His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, police said.
