A different view of Philadelphia

Do you have a favorite spot in Philadelphia? Or are you in need of a new one? On Friday, The Philadelphia Photo Arts Center invites you to hit the streets and document your find at its second

annual Philly Photo Day.

“We were looking for a great way to make photography the most accessible to the most amount of people and at the same time, celebrate the city of Philadelphia,” says Sarah Stolfa, executive director of the PPAC.

Here’s how it works: Take a picture of anything within city limits today (said favorite spot, your least favorite spot, your neighbor’s dog — anything goes here) and then submit it online at www.philaphotoarts.org. All entries will be on view at the PPAC’s exhibit space in the Crane Arts Building.

Although photography is everywhere — and more is only a cellphone click away — few of us regularly participate in the creation of these images. “This day is giving people that don’t normally think of themselves as photographers a reason to participate in photography other than just looking,” says Stolfa.
