Abductor used victim’s ATM card in Maryland, police say

The search for the 22-year-old woman who was abducted in Germantown on Sunday night has stretched into Maryland.

Police said Tuesday that Carlesha Freeland-Gaither’s ATM card was used at a bank in Aberdeen, Maryland at 6:01 a.m. Tuesday, but they couldn’t say if she was

According to NBC10, the man who withdrew funds from her account resembled the description of Freeland-Gaither’s abuctor, who can be seen on surveillance video violently forcing the nurse’s aid into a running, metallic gray Ford Taurus just before 10 p.m. Sunday only blocks from her Northwest Philadelphia home.

Freeland-Gaither’s family spoke out Tuesday in a public plea for her abductor to return their loved one.

Keisha Gaither, the woman’s mother, tearfully pleaded to the news media: “Just give her back,” she said. “Please.”

Freeland-Gaither, who lives on West Hansberry Street, does have history in the Old Line State. She attended high school in Maryland and for several years lived with her grandmother, according to the news outlet.

She returned to Philadelphia in 2012 and has worked since with cancer patients at Penn Presbyterian Hospital in University City, according to NBC10.

The FBI has partnered with local authorities on the search, and has also donated money to help the cause. A combined $42,000 reward is on the table for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of her abductor.

Police described the attacker as a 5-foot-10-inch tall man with a medium build.

Anyone with information is asked to call 215.686.TIPS.
