Get ready for the pageantry. Perhaps the two most outspoken figures tennis has ever seen will be on display this fall at the Wells Fargo Center.
Andre Agassi and John McEnroe, joined by fellow legends Pete Sampras, Jim Courier, Bjorn Borg, Michael Chang and Mats Wilander, will take center court Sept. 24 as part of the 2011 Champions Series.
The tour, which carries a $1 million purse split by the top three finishers, is making stops in 12 U.S. cities. The five-week season begins on Sept. 22 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and ends Oct. 22 in Buffalo.
“This is the greatest generation of champions ever assembled and an unprecedented opportunity for sports fans around the U.S. to reconnect with them,” said Jon Venison, founding partner of the Champions Series.
Tickets for the event go on sale May 9 at 10 a.m. Go to www.comcasttix.com for more information.
