Allen goes to his own Final Four

Even though Temple lost in the third round of the NCAA tournament, Lavoy Allen still made it to the Final Four in Houston — as a participant in the Reese’s NABC College All-Star Game, that is.

Allen’s East team fell to the West All-Stars, 113-108. The 6-foot-9 Owls senior finished with 11 points, eight rebounds, one steal and two turnovers in 20 minutes.

“I hit a couple shots,” Allen said. “I played pretty good defense for the most part.”

Despite Temple falling short during his four-year career, Allen still received the honor of being invited to Houston to experience the Final Four. He flew out Wednesday night to practice with the All-Stars, watched the slam dunk and 3-point championships on Thursday, played on Friday, and then watched the national semifinals on Saturday.

The NABC game was a who’s who of college stars, including Pittsburgh’s Gary McGhee and Brad Wanamaker.
