A new batch of rail cars already eight months behind schedule are now expected to be in SEPTA’s possession this fall, a transit agency spokeswoman said yesterday.
The first of an eventual 120 Silverliner cars were expected this month, after a delay pushed them back from their January 2010 initial arrival date.
Now, a “few” of the cars — which spokeswoman Jerri Williams estimated yesterday at about six — will arrive sometime in October. The cars are coming from a South Korea factory, made in part by Korean company Hyundai-Rotem.
Williams said yesterday she could not verify an exact number of new cars.
