Baby among those shot over weekend in Philadelphia

At least eight people were shot over the weekend in Philadelphia, including a baby who was injured Sunday morning in Harrowgate.

The child, a 1-year-old girl, was struck in her left hand just before 10:45 a.m. on the 2000 block of E. Ontario Street, police said. She was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, where she was in stable condition.

Authorities believe the gunfire occurred during a family gathering and the baby’s mother was holding her when the shots were fired, according to a 6abc report.

The family knows the shooter, but no arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of the incident, investigators said.

On Saturday afternoon, a 45-year-old man was gunned down on the 2000 block of Dickinson Street in Point Breeze.

He was shot five times just before 5:30 p.m. and died a short time later at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, according to police. No arrests have been made in the killing.

Police said a 30-year-old man is expected to survive after he was shot twice in the left leg just before 3:30 p.m. Sunday on the 200 block of E. Haines Street in East Germantown.

In Frankford, a 31-year-old man was shot once in the left knee just before 1:45 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Haworth and Tulip streets, authorities said. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

A gunman dressed in black shot another man twice in the buttocks just after 11 a.m. Sunday on the 6200 block of Chestnut Street in West Philadelphia, investigators said.

The victim, whose age was not provided by authorities, was hospitalized in stable condition.

Two people were wounded when gunfire erupted at around 9:45 a.m. Sunday on the 2100 block of N. Darien Street in North Philadelphia.

Police said a 23-year-old woman who was sitting in her car was shot twice in the head. She was rushed to Temple University Hospital in extremely critical condition.

A 28-year-old man was shot in the ear and right arm and is expected to survive. He was standing next to the car when the shots began.

Investigators described the suspect as a thin Black woman in her 20s who was wearing a peach-colored tube top and black shorts. Anyone with information can call or text 215-686-8477 to provide tips to detectives.

Early Sunday morning, just before 2:45 a.m., someone stabbed a 39-year-old man in the chest and arm inside a property on the 2500 block of N. Marshall Street in North Philadelphia, police said.

He was taken to Temple University Hospital and is being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Authorities said a 38-year-old man was in critical condition after showing up to Jefferson Frankford Hospital at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday with a stab wound to his back. Police were not sure where the stabbing occurred.

On Saturday, at around 11:45 p.m., a 35-year-old man was stabbed once in the side of his abdomen outside on the 5300 block of Chestnut Street in West Philadelphia, investigators said. He is expected to physically recover.

Emergency medical personnel transported a 14-year-old boy to the hospital after he was shot once in the leg at around 7 p.m. Saturday on the 4200 block of Vista Street in Holmesburg, police said. The child was listed in stable condition.

No one was immediately arrested in connection with the weekend’s violence.
